Lit Review are different opinions of different people about the different laws that are for illegal immigration.

The United States is made up of around 12 million illegal immigrants that are here just to look for an opportunity that was not given to them in their own country. Coming from many parts of the world, but I will only focus on a few of them. Immigrants come in search of a better life, and risk it all while coming to the United States, but glory is not always found in most cases. Most people actually start suffering from the moment they start their journey to the states. They come over with only cloth they are wearing and something small they can carry like water and snacks. The immigrants spend most of the time hiding from the law because they will take advantage of them. Immigrants are just here to make money to support their family back home, but the struggles they face are tough. People want to find out a little more about what struggles immigrants face while here in the United States.

What happens to children born in United States but from illegal parents?

This article clearly states what happens to children that are born in the United States but that were born from illegal immigrants, Immigrants as in people who do not have papers that that migrated from their home country, anywhere in the world. It starts of by saying what the fourteenth amendment says, “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction hereof, are citizens of the United States and of the state wherein they reside” (Thompson, 25). So this pretty much answers my question. Anyone born in the United States no matter from what family is indeed a citizen. It says that it will not prevent any permissions of becoming citizen because they were born here already. No matter what color or race you were born from, being born here makes you a citizen.

Children that are born on the United States are citizens no matter where they parents are from. Yes they are raised in a Mexican or Chinese or whatever culture their parents come from but they are indeed citizens. It says, “They are thus unlikely to consider a foreign country as a place to return or as a point of reference”. (Zhou, 64) This means that they are born here this is their home because, children born in United States call this place home. They will not know what they will do back in their parent’s native country. Children will have the same education and job opportunities since they were born here. These children born from illegal parents will be protected and will not get sent back to their parents’ home. They might struggle a little more in the schools and jobs but they will not be taken away from their homes and sent somewhere they don’t belong.

What age groups of immigrants come?

This article talks about what age and what sex group migrate to the United States. Immigrants obviously don’t come the minute they are born because they don’t know what it means to immigrate; babies are usually kept in their mothers care for at least a while before they bring them other to the United States. They also come alone but usually that’s when they are older and can make their own decisions and make sense of what they are doing. Males are usually the first ones to come to the States because they are the ones that have to take care of the family right. They vary as an age group, ”Most start to come when they turn eighteen and they go up to older people around their sixties”(Portes). When the immigrants come for the first time they usually never come with their family, they will come allow for whatever reason they have. Maybe because they want to try it out first without putting their family in danger.

This article describes the age of people that come to the United States illegally as the “working-age population.” (Hanson 869) This means that the main group of age that he describes is from 16 or 17 years old, cause that when you can start working, and to around 65 years old, that is the age were people mostly retire. The age group that crossed the most was between 18 years old and 27 years old with 38.5 percent, followed by 28 years old to 38 years old with 31.9 percent, as shown in a graph. (Hanson, 881) This explains what Hanson was talking about earlier about the “working-class” (Hanson, 869) this is the age groups that mostly come to the United States and they come to work and to find a better place or escaped problems from their home land. Over age group come to it ranges from early teenage years to adulthood grandparents. The percent was 4.4 which included ages from 57 years old to 68 years old. (Hanson, 881) So as you can see there till what age it goes up too.

What struggles do illegal immigrants face while living in the United States?

In this video they show illegal immigrants coming from South and Central America and the problems they have while they live here in the United States. It says “every time we look for a job, they turn us down because we are asked for a social security card”. (Cervantes) This is one of the problems that they had to face when they first came to the United States. They are illegal, they have no papers they have no way to find a job. It also says “I live in the street; I’ve been like this for a year”. (Cervantes) This is another problem that they have to face. Illegal immigrants cross over with nothing on their backs and when they come most of them don’t have any place to stay so they sleep in the streets or any place they find a spot. Immigrants will be there as long as they have to, for example the one that was mentioned that had been there for a year. When they are on the street remember that they can’t shower or brush their teeth or things like that.

An interview was done and many intersecting things were found.  Asking ex illegal immigrants a few questions was hard but answers were giving to help get this paper done. Problems that immigrants faced when they were illegal immigrants were a lot of the same ones or the same ones any other illegal immigrant would face. “Running and hiding from border patrol was terrifying”, (Torres, Struggles) this was a major problem for illegal immigrants because if they would get caught they would get deported back to their native home and wouldn’t have a chance to make a living in the United States. They said “The whites were so racist, they discriminated us”. (Torres, Struggles) People would be very racist to them because they believed that immigrants were not worse anything, that they just came for no good. Everywhere they went they were being discriminated like if they were something bad or if they were going to be a problem when immigrants were the ones with more problems in the first place. He felt a little scared when he was saying all this, just remember all his made him feel strange.

What reasons bring these illegal immigrants to the United States?

In a second interviewed different question were asked to different people. This person was asked what his reason for coming to the United States was. “I came because I had a better job opportunity”. (Torres, His Reason) This person came because he had a better job opportunity than in his native country. He said “it wasn’t the best but it was a lot better”. (Torres, His Reason) This meant that whatever he found here in the United States was a lot better than back home. They would get better pay more hours and if they had I shot they even learned a new language too. Most of the illegal immigrant came to find a better place most did not try to do badly. Like this person that tried to make his life better.

A women was interviewed too to get both sexes side of the story. They had different answers. This woman said “I came to the United States to make my children’s life better”. (Torres, Her Reasons) She thought about when she was going to have children. She was asked why to make your children’s life better? She said “because you get more opportunities when you are a citizen”. (Torres, Her Reasons) She believed that if you were naturalized or born a citizen of the United States life would be a lot simpler. In the United States it is believed that you get to live life the way you want it and opportunities will be given to you but you have to decide and take them. So she believed the same thing that if her children were born in the United States they will not have to face the same problems that she had to face.
