Illegal immigrants- they have been here in the United States for a couple of years now, living in the down-low as we can say. Immigrants live in all over the United States and we don’t know who most of them are or were they are located. Most of them live in very small homes in dangerous conditions one could not imagine, others live in streets were they have to fight to survive. They come into the United States looking for a better life but is that what they really find? Immigrants risk it all while coming here in the states, but glory isn’t always found. Finding the worst jobs someone has to offer them and sometimes not working at all for weeks or months. Crossing over with only their cloth and maybe something small they can carry like water or snacks for the trip. Hiding from the law and getting taken advantage from everyone is what they live in. Only trying to make enough money to feed they’re family is what they ask for. This is an immigrant’s life in the United States.
Purpose and Audience
The video that is shown is about an immigrants living somewhere in this country of ours. It is trying to show us what immigrants do to survive, in their jobs and with what they have. Jose is the immigrant that explains to us what he has to do to feed his family back home and also to stay alive here. He is shown in a small store cutting meat and taking out the trash, something a white man will probably not want to do. He says that what he makes here in a week will take him about four to six months to do so back in his home country. Telling us how different these countries are. It’s not easy, he says but he will do anything he has to too make some money. They show a car filled with immigrants being driven by an African-American meanwhile this is happening, he tells us that if immigrants leave they will have to pay a white man five times more for the same job they can do. This tells us that maybe we do need some of these people cause I now for a fact that not all of us can afford to pay a lot of money. Anyone seeing this video will get information on what immigrants struggle. Immigration can also track people by watching this video and students can research this and try to help these people so that maybe one day they can rights too.

One of these immigrants named Josefina Pineda says that they live in a two-bedroom duplex with her husband, three children and seven other relatives. The purpose of telling us this is so that we can imagine how hard it would be to live like this in small crowded spaces, when most of us are used to having our own bedroom. Jobs that they hold are mostly in agriculture and in local restaurants. Working in the fields is no easy job, having to be in the sun all day and working in extreme weather at times. One of the immigrants said that he doesn’t want his children to be doing these kinds of jobs that is why he works in any job so that they can get an education and be someone in life. This makes us wonder how they can live like this and no one tries to help them in any way. Government should be reading this and the thinking of ways to help these people who are actually trying to make a living. Field owners should see what immigrants do for their family and help them because I know that they would not like to be in that spot.

They show names of the people and at times freeze the camera to show a person. Also they show examples of what the people do in this country to survive. They also post other similar videos to the one that you are seeing to attract you to also see others. It primarily shows Mexicans like where they live, what they do and the struggles they face. Now the article is very different. It only has one picture of a large family in a small home. It bolds some titles, names of people and cities of where they researched. This has a lot of advertisement and different sections in which you may click on. Different colors and the name of the page are designed with mountains to make it more attractive. They both have their own ways of showing us different ways of immigrant’s life.

The video has informal language. Its communication is simple and easy for anyone to understand. It uses Spanish buts it is translated into English for the American viewers. The title gives us what it is about and the date of it too. It is filmed by a professional news group and starts off with to anchor men. Then using a Mexican immigrant to talk about his experiences and lifestyle in the United States. The language of the article is a little more formal but at times uses quotes from people that are informal. It is a bit more difficult to read but still nothing to hard. It is in English, our common language, uses numbers too. A professor from Western Washington University also has his part in this article. Using examples of different indigenous families helps us understand were these people come from. The two genres are different but tell us similar stories.
